Born on 2nd January, 1969, in California, USA, to a Salvadorian flight and a Pan Am pilot attendant, Christy Turlington grew up in Miami and San Francisco. She was spotted through a model scout when she was fourteen, and just 2 years later signed by the Ford agency.
Through 1985, Christy Turlington was doing editorial work for Vogue magazine. It did not net her megabucks, however she was getting noticed with all the right people & soon became a catwalk staple, most remarkably setting the runway on fire every season at Versace, clothed in barely-there creations. She was reportedly paid $25,000 by the designer to model merely for him in Milan. She said that she was really very conservative,and she felt silly going out on the runway, pretending she had attitude.
At twenty, she signed an exclusive 3 year deal with Calvin Klein that seemingly set a world record in modelling, bringing her a 7 figure income for 3 months' work a year. The draconian terms of the agreement forbade her to leave New York with no prior warning, but, or be photographed by anybody other than Bruce Weber in any other designers' clothes, & she cancelled it when she realised she overlooked the fun side of modelling the catwalk shows, the photo-shoots and her friends Linda Evangelista & Naomi Campbell.

In 1997, while her father died of lung cancer, Christy Turlington was galvanised into presenting her services to the American Cancer Society. Her assurance to the cause was further strengthened while, she was horrified to ascertain she had contracted smoking related, early stage emphysema, a deadly condition, in 2000,.
The aqua-eyed beauty, a supporter in Eastern philosophy, reportedly married her 1st husband, actor Roger Wilson and screenwriter, in a Buddhist ceremony. And she has ever since launched her personal Ayurvedic skincare range called Sundari, in addition to a line of yoga wear named Nuala. Next the demise of her marriage, Christy Turlington went on to date Christian Slater & former Julia Roberts-flame Jason Patric. After that, she met Saving Private Ryan, actor Ed Burns at a party, in the summer of 2000. After a whirlwind 5 month romance, the two announced their engagement. However the model's daydream wedding in Italy never took place. Just months behind buying a home together in New York, in March 2002, Christy Turlington and Ed split with friends explaining the star couple "were not each other's ideal life partners".
In a surprise bend, 7th months later the supermodel & the director gave the relationship one more chance. The result was a factual Hollywood happy ending, in June 2003, with Christy Turlington and Ed Burns tying the knot. Their happiness was added to in October of the same year when their 1st child, Grace, was born. In February 2006, the pair added to their family by the arrival of a son, Finn.
