Michel Telo, the Brazilian singer-songwriter was born on 21st Jan 1981. In 1987, as a six-year-old, he made his first solo performance in his faculty choir, singing a piece by Roberto and Erasmo Carlos Sanchez. At 10, Michel Telo’s musical talent blossomed as his father gave him an accordion. At the age of twelve, upon encouragement by neighbors, faculty friends, and his brothers, he fashioned a young band known as "Guri" for enjoying ancient music that served to highlight his style in music in an organized manner. He was the band's lead singer and musician. Besides his love for the mouth organ, Teloalso took up piano lessons for five years. Michel Telo was also a dancer and played the accordion, the harmonica  & the guitar.

In 1997, 16-year old Michel Telowas invited to join the band Grupo Tradicao, being a part of the band for eleven years as lead vocalist till 2008. His career as a singer took off as he sang the band’s biggest hits, like "Barquinho Caldeirao", "Par Sempre Minha Vida", "A Brasileira", and "Eu Quero Voce." During this time, he was the band's front figure, conducting most of the interviews & promotions. According to Michel’s former producer Wagner, he left without making any enmities or hard feelings, as he had made it clear that he needed to pursue a solo career. He was replaced by Guilherme Bertoldo, however the band had lost most of its attractiveness because of his departure and shortly members began to quit the band, not having enough trust in the viability of the band without Michel Telo.

Solo career- Michel Telo

The album “Balada Sertaneja” what released in 2009 by Brazilian record label “Som Livre”. It was produced by Ivan Myazato and resulted in two singles: "Ei, psiu! Beijo me liga", a great commercial success, & "Amanhã sei lá". The release of the live album “Michel Telo - Ao Vivo” was an even bigger success and awarded Michel Telo a gold disc. This culminated in a large concert on 16th Sep 2011, reportedly attended by 50,000 individuals on a double ticket, including Michel Telo & Joao Bosco & Vinicius at Terraco Daslu. During 2011, Michel Telo completed over 240 shows. According to Forbes magazine, Telo’s Fugidinha Tour was attended by over 17 million individuals and he reportedly made $18 million in 2011 alone. Michel Telo has also released 2 DVDs, one containing songs from the Eighties and Nineties, with José & Milionario law, Bruno e Marrone, and Joao Bosco & Vinicius, and the other titled “Michel Balada” containing new songs with a metallic element.

International fame of Michel Telo

Many soccer players have used the signature dance to "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" during goal celebrations, popularizing the song. Brazilian soccer star Neymar also appeared in a video of the same song. In the Spanish professional league, Marcelo & Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid danced to the song when Ronaldo scored the first goal against Malaga CF on 22nd Oct, 2011. Rafael Nadal has also danced to this song. On 29th Oct 2011, Brazilian left-back Andre Santos danced to this song after scoring the 2-2 equalizer in Arsenal's 5-3 triumph over London rivals Chelsea. Recently, in the Super League Greece, Simão, Cleyton, Sebastián Leto & other Panathinaikos' players danced to this song when Cleyton scored the first goal against PAOK on 30th Oct, 2011.

Polish player Adrian Mierzejewski danced to the song when Pawel Brozek scored a goal during the friendly match between Poland and Germany on 15thNov 2011. In the German Bundesliga Marco Reus performed it with his team mates after every one of his three goals for Borussia Monchengladbach against Warder Bremen on 19th Nov 2011 when Gladbeck outclassed Bremen, winning 5-0. Lewis Holtby celebrated his goal in Schalke’s 4-0 wins against Nuremberg with the dance on the same day. Alexander Pato, Kevin-Prince Boateng & Robinho of Milan were also seen dancing to this song at a coaching session on 16thNov 2011. Lucas, Maxi Rodriguez, and Sebastian Coates of Liverpool danced to this song when Rodriguez scored the first goal against Chelsea on 28thNov, 2011. On 10th Dec 2011, Marquinhos and Ricardo Laborde of Anorthosis danced this song when Marquinhos scored the first goal against Apollon Limassol in Anorthosis's 2-0 victory. On 16th Dec 2011, during a Super League match between Orduspor & Galatasaray, Galatasaray players Felipe Melo and Emmanuel Eboue danced to the song. Falkirk striker Farid El Alagui also danced to this song after scoring against Queen of the South within the Scottish Premier League,

The song is the walk-up music for Miguel Montero of the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball when he comes up to bat. It has also been used as the walk-out music for Fabricio Werdum at UFC 143 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michel Telo announced he was embarking on a tour of the US to push the song in an English version titled "Oh, If I Catch You". Michel Telo is a dedicated supporter of Brazilian Gremio squad.
